Taicang

The Taicang, steeped in history, is an area famous for corn which borders on the south and east of the metropolitan city of Shanghai. Its roots go back to 300 BC and the well-known Chinese explorer Zheng. He felt at home here 800 years ago. Today many companies are also attracted to the city which for Chinese standards with roughly 823 square kilometers and 900,000 inhabitants is relatively small. 
 
With economic growth of 7.1% in 2015 and in comparison to Shanghai low factor costs, Taicang counts as a wealthy Chinese district city. More than 3,000 foreign companies have invested and settled in Taicang, of which 250 are of German origin. This is due to the nearness of Shanghai which is just 50 km away and also due to an investment-friendly climate in the city, the Taicang economic development area and the advanced infrastructure where the harbour almost 25 km long with a bonded warehouse is worth mentioning. Taicang is not without reason known as a small economic miracle and continues to attract German companies.
