As from 2 January, 2019, foreign nationals and stateless persons arriving in Belarus may pass an electronic registration via the Internet portal of e-services www.portal.gov.by (hereinafter – the “Portal”) on a free-of-charge basis without the need of visiting migration authorities personally.

The registration via the Portal is available to those foreigners who have entered Belarus through the border checkpoints of the Republic of Belarus. Meanwhile, the foreigners arriving in Belarus through the border with the Russian Federation shall personally file for registration with the migration authorities.

In order to proceed with electronic registration it is required to create a user account on the Portal and then pass a registration procedure through filling out an application. The respective data can be filled out on the Portal either by a foreign citizen directly or by his/her representative from its own user account.

However, foreign nationals are still entitled to file for registration personally with the migration authorities. In this case, the registration is performed on a chargeable basis and requires a state duty to be paid in the amount of 1 basic unit (BYN 25.5 or ca. 10 Euro).

In either way, the extension of registration requires a personal visit to the migration authorities.

Please note that a foreign citizen who enters the Republic of Belarus must be registered with the migration authorities at the actual address of his/her temporary stay within 5 days (the period is calculated excluding Sundays, public holidays and days declared as the non-business ones by the President of the Republic of Belarus). When staying in hotels etc. the registration is carried out by the administrations of such facilities by default upon check-in.
