Rödl & Partner advises Erkat Spezialmaschinen und Service GmbH on Business Disposal to Atlas Copco

​Nuremberg, 20 January 2017. Rödl & Partner, an international professional services firm, advised the former shareholder of Hämbach-based Erkat Spezialmaschinen und Service GmbH in the sale of its entire stake to the Atlas Copco Group.

 

Erkat Spezialmaschinen und Service GmbH is one of the world's leading manufacturers of drum cutter attachments for excavators. Atlas Copco is one of the world's leading suppliers of industrial tools and solutions, compressors, and construction and mining equipment. The acquisition of Erkat will enable the Atlas Copco Group to strengthen its strategic position mainly in the German market. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

 

In the course of the transaction, Rödl & Partner's corporate law and M&A practice led by the Partners, Michael Wiehl and Cyril Prengel, advised Erkat's former shareholder on all legal, tax and financial issues.

 

Erkat Spezialmaschinen und Service GmbH, incorporated in 1999, manufactures drum cutter attachments for excavators and skid-steer loaders used primarily in construction and demolition and for quarries and tunnels. Erkat currently employs 38 employees and achieved revenue of EUR 12 million in 2015.

 

Formed in 1873 and based in Stockholm, Sweden, the Atlas Copco Group offers its customers innovative compressors, vacuum solutions and air treatment systems, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems.  In 2015, Atlas Copco achieved revenue of SEK 102 billion (EUR 11 million) and employed over 43,000 people.
