1:02.97 minutes in the 100-meter breaststroke and 36:17.95 minutes for 24 kilometers in the time trial earned Taliso Engel and Matthias Schindler medals at the Paralympic Games from 24 August to 5 September 2021 in Tokyo. Rödl & Partner as sponsor of the Golden Ring supports the two athletes.

At 7:03 p.m. Japanese local time, Taliso Engel, just 19 years old, hit the edge of the pool at the Tokyo Aquatics Center and secured the gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke (starting class SB13). With his best time, he not only made it onto the winner's podium, but also beat the world record he had set just a few hours earlier.

Matthias Schindler covered a much longer distance for his bronze medal. He narrowly beat Finlay Graham in the 24-kilometer pursuit race at Fuji Speedway. The extremely challenging course demanded a lot from the athlete and police officer, both physically and mentally. But his efforts were ultimately rewarded.

The two top athletes have been sponsored by Goldener Ring e.V. since 2017 and 2019 respectively. The association supports talented Nuremberg athletes with scholarships and media work, because competitive sports demand both personal dedication and financial deprivation.

We at Rödl & Partner are proud to contribute to these successes as a sponsor of the Golden Ring – a sustainable investment in social cohesion, sporting commitment and regional identification.

In order to thank Prof. Dr. Christian Rödl personally for his lasting support, Taliso Engel and Matthias Schindler visited us at our Nuremberg headquarters. Over buttered pretzels, which were exceptionally allowed after the Games, they reported on their training preparations as well as their impressions from Tokyo. Proudly they showed their medals and gave a glimpse of next year's upcoming competitions.
