Slovenia Reduces VAT Rate on Energy Supply

Due to the increased cost of energy, Slovenia has temporary reduced the VAT rate on the supply of energy for heating purposes.

 

 

The reduced VAT rate of 9.5 per cent (normally 22 per cent) is applicable to the following supplies:
  • Electricity 
  • Natural gas
  • Remote heating 
  • Firewood for heating purposes.

The reduction will apply for the period from 1 September 2022 until 31 May 2023.

The Law determining the intervention measure in the field of VAT for mitigating the rise in energy prices was adopted on 23 August 2022 and was published in Official Gazette No. 114/2022 on 31 August 2022.
